The  introduction seminar of the specialized international exhibition of halal meat products and corresponding industries (MeatEx) in Tehran was held in Almas Hall of The Parsian Azadi Hotel on January 31th, 2016 (Bahman 11th, 1394) in the presence of related unions and associations, manufacturers and practitioners in related industries, as well as journalists from public and expert journals.

Ms. Salia Habibollahi, head of Darvazeh Tejarat Farasoo’s board, opened the seminar by welcoming the audience and announcing the program.

Then, Dr Aflaki, secretary of the association of the meat products in Iran, talked about the history of meat products manufacturing, the significance of Iran in the Middle East meat industry, and the high qualitative and quantitative potential of domestic meat products for global markets.

Dr Aflaki’s speech was followed by Mr Hormoz Mehbod, CEO of Tejarat Farasoo Holding, elaborating on the objectives and reasons of organizing the exhibition in Iran. According to Mr Mehbod, MeatEx is the first specialized international exhibition of halal meat products to be ever held; also, it is the only specialized exhibition to be held for meat product industry in the Middle East, making it different from other meat products exhibitions in the world. Mr Mehbod also announced the presence of Messe Frankfurt in this exhibition. He also mentioned that there are initial agreements for presence in the exhibition of India, the Netherlands, and Thailand as pavilion.

The first round of the exhibition (in 2016) is approached as a regional event, while it is expected to turn into a global exhibition in the next rounds.

Dr Fakhari, secretary general of the global Halal Organization, was the next speaker, who talked about the significance of halal products. He also mentioned that the per capita consumption of food products is high in Muslim countries, with a total of 2000 billion dollars a year. He went on to state that there is a growing trend for halal food products in non-Muslim countries too,.

Finally, there was a question and answer session with all the speakers present. The seminar ended at 3 PM.
